What is the definition of a successful investment, or financial plan?
There are more answers to that question than you might realize. As we grow older, our definition of a “successful plan” adapts to our situation. At Ferguson Financial, our goal is to meet clients where they're at, and to create a sustainable and profitable financial plan for every phase of life.
Over the course of my 18 years’ experience as an investment representative in Fayette County, my business structure, or niche, began a transformation. Initially recommending “which” investment might provide the best possible return, became “what type of investment” and “what kind of account” will meet the “planning needs” of my clients.
A retiree might be concerned about running out of income, protecting assets from lawsuits, preserving principal, guarantees, tax-advantaged strategies, possible nursing home expenses, preventing family discord with inheritance, and discussing “trust” or “gifting” strategies.
A business owner might be interested in strategies to retain “key employees”; how to transition business to kids while providing self a retirement income; buy-sell agreements with cash value for potential “buy-out” clauses.
